Sweet Caroline

I type this one hand while Caroline sleeps in my arms so pleas ignore typos and lack of capitalization. Caroline is a sweet, inquisitive girl. She is having a bit of a difficult transition to our family. She was clearly well-loved by and well-attached to the nannies at her orphanage. She is missing them pretty badly and hasn't quite decided what she thinks of us! She likes to play with us but doesn't like to receive all of her care from us so she is having difficulty sleeping and she has episodes of sadness during the day. When she is sad, she mostly wants Mama and she doesn't like to sit down (in fact, she hates it.) Andy & I have spent many hours walking the hotel with her.

We are beginning to see glimpses of her personality though as she gets more comfortable. When we went shopping yesterday, she went crazy over a pair of red squeaky shoes. Her Daddy bought them for her as fast as he could. She is very proud of them!

Sarah Grace has also had a bit of a adjustment. on tuesday, she ignored caroline all day. yesterday she made some great strides though, trying to comfort caroline during her sad spells. We know they will be good friends.

Today we are going to the zoo.

Take heart, adjustments were bound to be needed for her. It's a good thing that she was well cared for by the nannies, but in time she will see how wonderful a mommy & daddy she has and she will be very well adjusted at home. SG as well. It will take some time, and time is on your side. This won't even be a memory for her in a few months. Suggest you hibernate when you get home so she can get adjusted to "home". BUT, we will be very ready to spend time with her as soon as it's a good time for family to come round. God has brought you this far & He will see you through!

Adjustment will take time for everyone. Can not wait to start spoiling her myself.

Angie,
Thanks for the update. We think of you often. Janelle asked where Sarah Grace was today at our playdate. We miss you! We'll continue to pray for Caroline's comfort, family bonding, strength, and continued health during your stay. Don't forget to tell Sarah Grace that her little friends miss her and can't wait to play together again too.

we'll take typos, just as long as we get to see pictures and posts :) I know the sadness is difficult, but each day will get better as Caroline turns to you and realizes you are her Forever Mommy!

Good to read an update from you, Ang. I've been thinking a lot about you after Mom called when you talked to her last.

Ben is still snug as a bug. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon.

What cute pictures. We are thinking of you! I love that Andy bought the red shoes and how proud she is - so fun to see their little personalities/likes/dislikes. So glad she and Sarah Grace are warming up to each other - it's a big change! Praying for good rest and for happiness and adjustment.

Sweet Jesus,

I just pray over this family as they are all adjusting to one another. Lord, we pray that you will help Caroline as she adjusts to these precious parents you have blessed her with. We thank you for their love and tender care for her, and we ask that you would give them wisdom and grace to meet Caroline where she is and help parent her through this time.

We thank you, Lord, that you are in control of all things. We thank you for bringing them safely to Caroline and for bringing her into their lives.

I pray your blessing on this family, and I pray that they will know your peace will encompass Caroline--that you would pour out your spirit on their hotel room and that you would give Caroline rest.

Blessings,
Lori

that will be another adjustment.
Talked to Karen tonight and she
seemed encourgaging so I felt better. You know this was Wed night
Dinner. She is such a beautiful
little girl. You are so blessed
to have 2 beautiful girls.
Lookint forwarding to tomorrow's

WE're loving every post and all the pics. Yes, the adjustment is difficult (to say the least), but Lord will give you everything you need. We send you hugs and lots of love!

Your description of long walks around the hotel make me think of the nightly tours of our apartment complex in Almaty I made trying to walk Calvin to sleep . . . a delight and an exhausting task at the same time (and the longer it went, the more it was of the latter :) I have some idea of how to pray for you guys!
